Abstract:
Using thermionic emission microscope to study changes in the work function of stainless steel by ion irradiation. Presumably irradiation with argon ions and heating of the sample lead to the enrichment of the surface layer with manganese. This is evidenced by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and by the measured values of the work function.
