Optical quality optimization of the 1 meter telescope primary mirror by means of mechanical parameters of the supporting system

Abstract:
This paper describes an optimization of supporting forces value and their application points according to the criterion of maximal optical quality of 1 meter telescope primary mirror. The condition of Wrms ≤ 0,03 λ (Wrms - a root-mean-square of reflected wave front aberration) was chosen as a criterion providing an optical quality close to diffraction limit.
Numerical calculations using a Solid Works Simulation® codes allowed to build the deformation field of mirror reflecting surface in different cases of supporting forces distribution. I was shown that uniform distribution among 6 points underlying along inner ring and 12 points of outer ring results the value Wrms = 0,022λ that seems as acceptable, however very small (3%) redistribution towards an outer ring leads to two times increase of the optical quality.
The calculation of the supporting forces tolerances (errors) for different cases of their distribution. To keep an optical quality at high level the errors must not exceed 2% level. The latter makes strong demands to the supporting system manufacturing quality and precision of assembly and adjusting as well.
