Abstract:
The total electron content of the ionosphere TEC is an important parameter used to assess the accuracy of positioning, to determine the state of the environment, so long as the effort is aimed at the experimental study, and the modeling of the TEC behavior. This paper assesses the agreement between experimental and model values of the TEC. As experimental values, global maps of JPL, CODE, UPC, ESA are used. Two models are used: 1) the new IRI-Plas model, which allows to determine the TEC by integration of improved N(h) profile, and its adaptation to the plasma frequency, measured on satellites, and 2) a new (unique) empirical model of TEC(NGM). According to the Moscow station in July 2004, it is shown that the set of values of the TEC for the adapted IRI-Plas model is, in most cases, in a range of global maps. Many of TEC(NGM) is outside of the range along with the random nature of the changes of deviations from the experimental values.
