Abstract:
A discharge in the metal-dielectric segmented tube is investigated as a method of active medium excitation of the He-Cd ion laser ( = = 441.6, 533.7, and 537.8 nm CdII), which combines the properties of longitudinal and hollow-cathode discharges. The pulsed-periodic and quasi-CW laser action at = 441.6, 533.7, and 537.8 nm CdII, and also CW laser action at = 441.6 nm CdII are obtained. High gains are achieved which exceed the gains in a longitudinal discharge.
