Results of observations of test small satellite «Sphere-53» by facilities of Russian space surveillance system

Abstract:
For the purpose of experimental verification and calibration of mathematical models of the motion of space objects in the upper atmosphere and improvement of accuracy of the trajectory of descent from orbit developed and launched into space from the ISS light small spacecraft of spherical form. Observations of trajectory of the spacecraft were carried out by radar facilities of space control system of Russia. Term existence of spacecraft was about 3 months. The results of observations suggest that the current model for forecasting the trajectory of descent from orbit spacecraft of spherical form is able to predict the time of combustion with an error of 10 % with a probability of 0.9.
