Abstract:
In this article the experimental research results of using extended ultra-wideband (UWB) signals in electronic scanning antenna arrays are presented. The experiment was carried out with the use of eight-channel antenna array in audio wave range. The extended chirp signal and code phase-shift keyed (CPSK) signal were investigated. These results confirm the fact of losses and distortions which is caused by deviation of signal direction of arrival from antenna axis. In traditional signal processing the amount of scanning angle decreases to ±10° or less against the array normal; we get not more than 3 dB energy losses within the limits of this scanning angle. It was proven experimentally that the method of error-compensation of frequency and phase distortions in chirp signal processing and method of group delay in code phase-shift keyed signal processing should be used. It allows to eliminate the losses and distortions and to provide the required scanning angle.
