Abstract:
In 2011, the OJC «RPC «PSI» completed creation of a laser communication system for data transmission between terminals, one installed on the ISS - board and another one installed on optical observation station «Arkhyz». The equipment allows to transmit test signals at speeds of 125 Mbps and 622 Mbps, and also data prepared by the operator for the speed 100 MBit/s.
In 2011-2012, experimental works were started on the laser communication system. During the experiments, there test signals have been successfully transmitted at a speed of 125 Mbps with receiving about 600 MBytes of useful data (the data transmitting part of session was about 100 s). Mutual pointing has been adjusted, the principals of system design were checked (spectral discrimination of receiving and transmitting channels, etc).
The following main results were obtained: NLT direction-finder errors are 20 arcsec in azimuth (6σ); 10 arcsec in respect to the angle places (6σ); BER = 3,2-10-9; the stable received amount of useful of data was about 700 MBytes.
