Experimental study of the resonant time compression of microwave pulses in a overmoded cavity is presented. The new method of compression involving storing the high frequency energy at high Q-factor value mode and then transferring it into different mode by due to operation of the interference switch connected to the cavity volume. After that the energy is extracted through the output interference switch. Experiment tests were run at the frequency of 9282 MHz. The compressor was fed by the magnetron generator of 50 kW output pulse power and 1 mcs pulsewidth. At first the storing mode H01(6) in the cavity of 44 mm diameter and 210 mm length was excited its Q-factor being 39103. After sequential triggering of gaseous discharges in the interference switches at compression system inlet and outlet the energy was transferred into H11(3) mode and dumped out of the cavity respectively. The energy was extracted in the form of microwave pulses of 250 - 400 kW pulse power at 20-40 ns pulsewidth or 1,25 MW pulse power at 1,7 ns pulsewidth. Corresponding amplification was 7-9 dB or 14 dB.
