Research of Artificial DNA-Like Structures in Microwave: Observation of Polarization Selectivity of Reflection of Waves

Abstract:
The electromagnetic microwave wave which is reflected from the 2D array composed of helical conductors has been investigated. Each helical element has geometrical parameters that are similar to parameters of the molecule of DNA. Both single and double helices are investigated. Polarization of the reflected electromagnetic wave depending on frequency near to the main resonance is investigated. It is drawn a conclusion, that DNA-like structures consisting of right-handed elements can interact only with the electromagnetic wave the polarization of which is close to circular left-handed in a resonant frequency range. The electric vector of such wave forms a left screw in space. The main resonance takes place on the condition , where is the length of one turn of the helical element of an artificial structure. At the same time the DNA-like structure does not interact with the electromagnetic radiation having the resonance wavelength and the right-handed circular polarization
