Abstract:

Despite progress in diagnosis and treatment of cancer, women’s breast cancer still maintains a high mortality rate due to the lack of accurate and timely detection methods. The number of cases is only growing year by year. Each of the currently available methods for detecting tumors has both advantages and limitations. In this regard, in the last decade, methods based on the distribution of electrical potentials have been in the focus of attention of researchers. It was found that the electrical properties of malignant tumors differ significantly from healthy tissue. Because of this, the development of devices for electroimpedance spectroscopy of breast tumors becomes an important trend in modern biomedical engineering.

Determination of an effective criterion for differentiability of benign and malignant tumors by electroimpedance spectroscopy in biological tissues.

The conclusions obtained as a result of the work on determining the effective differentiability criterion will be used in the development of a biotechnical system for detecting malignant tumors at an early stage.

The results of current work allow us to assert, that the electrical properties of biological tissues are indeed a suitable characteristic for their definitive differentiation at low frequencies of sensing. Electroimpedance spectroscopy can equally be used not only to determine the condition of tumors, but also to visualize the position of the needle tip during biopsy. In the future, electroimpedance spectroscopy may make it possible to detect, localize and classify tumors at an early stage of development easier, faster and more accurately than the methods used today, including biopsy.
