Abstract:

Formulation of the problem.  Analysis of variance, has long acquired the status of one of the most used methods of statistical analysis in biology and medicine. This work is devoted to the use of analysis of variance in the processing of volunteer data using the example of the “dry” immersion (DI) experiment. In the course of the investigation, monitoring of local immunity in periodontal tissues of 10 subjects aged from 24 to 33 years was conducted. The quantitative values of the level of immunoglobulins and cytokines are characterized by high variability, which does not allow using the classical methods of statistical processing without losing the general data structure of a particular experiment. In this regard, in our opinion, the preliminary selection of groups unique in reaction to the impact is more reasonable.

Aim of the work – the use of analysis of variance to isolate homogeneous groups of testers with the subsequent evaluation of the results of a study of the condition of periodontal tissues under 21-day DI.

Results. Two homogeneous samples were obtained, to which statistical analysis was then applied. When analyzing the oral fluid in the subjects for the content of immunoglobulins and cytokines, an increase in their level on the 14th day of the experiment is observed. Carriage of periodontopathogenic microflora is shown. The detection rate of periodontopathogens of the 1st order (Porphyromonas gingivalis, Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Tanerella forsythia) is 68%, and the 2nd order (Treponema denticola, Prevotella intermedia) is 32%.

The correctness of the dispersion analysis was shown when evaluating data on the dynamics of the content of immunoglobulins and cytokines in the oral fluid of the subjects under the experimental conditions of the DI.

Practical significance. The results obtained indicate the promise of using analysis of variance in the processing of experimental data. The obtained data on the content of immunoglobulins and cytokines in the the oral fluid and the state of the oral microbiocenosis can be used to identify risk groups for the development of inflammatory periodontal diseases under the influence of extreme factors and to develop adequate means of prevention.
