Abstract:

The purpose of our work was to analyze the life expectancy of athletes, since they are a very ambiguous group of the population.

The average life expectancy of men, who specialized in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, was 67.62 years. Judoists and boxers had an average life expectancy of 60.7 years, athletes had 52.6 years, which is consistent with the data of other authors on the lower life expectancy of representatives of traumatic sports, for example, cyclists 62.7 years.

In the group of champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games in sports with low traumatic risk (swimming, rowing) among men, the average life expectancy was 67.5 years, among women 75.1 years.

The average life expectancy of world-famous circus and ballet dancers was 68.51 and 74.78 respectively, which is not much different from the data of other researchers on the life expectancy of such creative professions as: artists (72.3 for men and 74.1 For women), musicians (67.2 for men and 67.5 for women), writers (65.4 for men and 68.1 for women) and scientists (75.4 for men and 78.3 for women).

In the course of our study, a very high percentage of deaths from cardiovascular diseases in athletes was found, which suggests that more detailed diagnosis is needed. For health monitoring, gadgets such as holter, cardiointervalometry, DNA diagnostic methods can be used to help identify the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
