Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the individual features of cardio-vascular reactivity and autonomic regulation of heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback sessions in teachers (40-60 years old) with episodes of blood pressure (BP) increasing in anamnesis (above 140/90 mmHg). 24 persons (main group) received 10 HRV biofeedback sessions in order to increase the total power HRV spectrum during short recordings in one session (5 minutes). It was found that the reactivity of the autonomic nervous parameters during biofeedback sessions in people older than 50 years are significantly lower than in those younger group. At the same time against the backdrop of increasing the HRV total spectral power they observed minimal changes of stress-index. The lowest reactivity HRV observed in persons with initially high VLF-part (more 30-35 %) in the HRV spectrum, regardless of age. The most common cases of unsuccessful HRV biofeedback during the sessions course observed in individuals with elevated blood pressure at the study time and who was not compliant to get anti-hypertensive drugs. In individuals with verified arterial hypertension blood pressure dynamics may be different from the dynamics of sympathetic activity HRV-indicators during the course of HRV biofeedback sessions.
