Abstract:
The study described in the article was carried out by the workers of Military academy of NBC defense (Kostroma) together with the Electronics and Information Technology Institute of Ural Federal University (Yekaterinburg). The article describes the nonthermal exposure of electromagnetic fields with microwave range 20-30 GHz onto lawn grass. The article gives the description of the experiment that was carried out to estimate the effects produced by the low intensity microwave radiation upon the lawn grass treated with herbicide n-(phosphonomethyl)-glycine. The work provides also the analysis of its results. During the estimation of the effects produced by the low intensity microwave radiation upon the lawn grass treated with herbicide we studied the growth of the grass in normal condition, grass treated only with herbicide, grass treated only with microwave radiation and grass treated both with herbicide and microwave radiation. The plants were irradiated with different exposure and It was truly established that the influence exists. Significant therapeutic effect can be observed when the affected plants are irradiated for 20 minutes, in case of longer exposure to radiation the effect does not increase. Moreover, if the plants are exposed to radiation for 50 minutes, the destructive effect of herbicide increases and the plants die faster than the plants treated only with herbicide. It can prove the fact that there is a build-up effect of radiation dose in a living system and one-time exposure, which is longer than the acceptable limit, can lead to negative consequences. But it should be mentioned that when the plants were exposed to radiation for 30 minutes during 3 days, the destructive effect of herbicide did not increase. In case of microwave power flux density 10-7, 10-6, 10-5, 10-4 W/cm2 the therapeutic effect is almost the same, which can be evidence of nonthermal effect of radiation. In case of different irradiation frequencies from 20 to 30 GHz, the most pronounced therapeutic effect can be observed with radiation frequencies 22, 23, 24, 26, 30 GHz and the weakest therapeutic effect can be observed with radiation frequencies 20 and 21 GHz. So it was truly established that the effect of influence of low intensity microwave radiation upon the plants treated with toxic substances exists. In case of adequate technical support this effect can be used for treatment of useful and valuable plants. The obtained results also give the opportunity to consider that the influence of microwave radiation with abovementioned range onto living systems, treated with toxic substances, will be the same.
