Abstract:
The aim was to determine the degree of the relationship of auditory evoked potentials P300 and features of symptoms in patients with Parkinson\'s disease (PD). 26 people (18 women and 8 men) with a verified diagnosis of PD were examined. Mean age was 65±5,9 years. The disease duration, the level of geriatric depression scale GDS15, a level of PD symptoms on a scale UPDRS and a stage of the disease [1] were determined. Assessment of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and P300 were performed by an electroencephalograph \"Encephalan\" (Medicom, Taganrog, Russia). The «oddball paradigm» in response to auditory stimulation with nonverbal specified conditions binaural stimulation was used to register of potential P300. Minimum amplitude of peak-to-peak N250-P300 (A) and maximum latent period (LP) on the right and left sides of the brain were determined. We used Kendall tau correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The LP P300 logically increases with age, which is consistent with the literature data [2], especially on the left side (p < 0,05). A positive correlation between duration of the disease (p = 0,003), stage (p = 0,037) and a number of PD signs with an amplitude of P300 on the left side. Intensity of the left hand and left foot rigidity, the disturbances of getting up from a chair without using their hands, posture disorder are associated with an increase in A. P300 left side (p < 0,04 - 0,003), mainly in the frontal and temporal leads. At this relatively high amplitude P300 left side was registered with the minimal amplitude P300 right side (less than 5 mcV). We do not exclude the impact on the studied indicators of climatic living conditions [3]. Thus, the increase in LP P300 in patients with PD is more strongly associated with age-related changes. The presence of left-sided asymmetry P300 amplitude in the contralateral EEG leads combined with a significant reduction of P300 amplitude in right side indicates poor prognosis of cognitive dysfunction, as well as increased signs of PD such as rigidity of the left hand and left foot, the disturbances of getting up from a chair without using their hands, posture disorder.
