Abstract:
In the paper there is shown the possibility of using the blood vessel model based on the linear and topological characteristics for the early diagnosis of the blood vessels diseases with infrared transillumination method. The method being developed differs from existing methods with the measurement algorithm, based on the digital image processing instruments. The wavelength of infrared light can, after some image processing, give a satisfying contrast between blood vessels and underlying tissue. Therefore, it is interesting to investigate the possibilities to use infrared transillumination for vascular diagnostic purposes. Use of the method presented here is of course not limited only to infrared transillumination but could also be applied when using other modalities.
