Computerising of Thyroid Disfunction Diagnosis Making Process

Abstract:
The computer technology of thyroid disfunction (TD) diagnostics allows to describe a medical diagnostic process as a circuit including a patient, a conference of medical experts and a decision maker. To optimize the process at the stage of detailed differential diagnostics as well as the stage of syndrome determi-nation (thyreotoxicose, hipothyriosis, euthyriosis) of TD, a Decision Making Support System in Endocrinology (DMSSE) was developped using new improved diagnostic algorithms based on modern laboratory methods. For the DMSSE successful functioning, basic frames need to be included into the structure with frames of new conditions based on them. Each of the frames contains a slot provided with an index of another frame substructure. In the DMSSE the basic frames are: "registration record", "diagnosis", "study", "results treatment". Each of the frames has its substructure, for exemple, the frame "study" consists of the sub-frames "syndrome-strategy", "diagnosis-strategy". The process of comparison consists of a pattern-frame containing an ideal information about the actual patients of the examination compared to a frame-prototype, where the results reflecting the examined patient-s condition are collected. As a result of the process of comparison in the knowledge block new diagnostic algorithms are formed, which provide decision making support in endocrinology. Using these algorithms in DMSSE allows any physician to perform diagnostics of 35 TD with the experience and knowledge of high quality experts.
