Assessment of the Effectiveness of THz-Therapy-NO in the Complex Treatment of Patients with Deforming Arthrosis (Clinical and Experimental Investigation)

Abstract:
The object of the study was investigation of the influence of electromagnetic radiation of terahertz range at the frequencies of molecular spectrum of nitric oxide on the morphological and functional disorders in the cartilage tissue of the laboratory rats caused by immobilization stress. Marked changes in chondrocytes, collagen fibers and basic substance of cartilage tissue in the rats subjected to sharp and chronic immobilization stress were estimated. It was shown that simultaneously influence of terahertz waves and stressor agent prevents and restore the cartilage metabolism disorders. The best results of the cartilage metabolism disorders prevention were obtained in 3 and 7 groups of experimental animals, where the duration of terahertz waves radiation were 15 minutes. Other aim of the researching was assessment of the effectiveness of THz-therapy-NO in the complex treatment of patients with deforming arthrosis. The degree of the pain syndrome in the patients who were treated with THz-therapy-NO at the moment of finish of the treatment decreased at 3,9 times. The positive dynamic of range of motion of the knee joint in the patients was among 9,2°. The frequency of presenting of edema of the soft tissues of the joint and cartilage in the patients decreased in 5,7 and 1,9 times. Usage of the therapy in complex rehabilitation of 30 patients with deforming arthrosis of the knee joint promoted to improve the dynamic of the clinical signs and ultra sound investigation pattern of the joint disorders in comparison with pa-tients who had got standard scheme of physiotherapy by pulsed magnetic fields.
