Research of Low Intensity Microwave Radiation Effects on Wheat Plants Photosynthetic Activity

Abstract:
The results of an experimental research of influencing microwave radiation of low intensity on grains of wheat are adduced. At the first phase of a grain of wheat 10 minutes of a microwave by intensity 100 μW/cm2 were irradiated. For the tenth day after transplanting plants were sheared off, their length and quantity were measured. The results demonstrate that at frequency 14,75 GHz is watched depressing germinating capacity and growth of grains of wheat, while at frequency 15,00 GHz descends a stimulation both that, and other. At the second phase some plants by overall length 150 cm was placed in pressurized vials at 2,5 hours for achievement of a saturation of solution Na2CO3 at a natural illumination level (800 - 1000 Lux). The estimation of a photosynthesis speed was made by pressure in vials by means of pressure transducers and SLC «Multilab». The pressure was measured with frequency 10 times per second, the general length of measure-ments has compounded 16 minutes. Established that the maximum of a pressure curve permitting to evaluate photosynthesis speed, is necessary on frequency 14,75 GHz, where germinating capacity and growth are minimum. The general result of research demonstrates that at effect on those frequencies, on which one are notably augmented germinating capacity and intensity of growth, the photosynthesis speed is slowed down, and, to the contrary. Probably, different energy levels of biologically active macromolecules correspond to plant-s development processes and photosynthesis processes, therefore exposure on fixed frequencies results resonant interaction with different molecules, accountable for some biological effect. And as a consequence it is activated either processes of development and growth of plant, or photosynthesis processes. This reasoning is only suppositions and the additional research will be conducted for detailed study of the found effects.
