Justification. The CYGNSS global cyclone navigation satellite system, introduced in 2016, is currently the only cyclone research system. The capabilities of the CYGNSS system allow its use for various applications, including for measuring the height of ocean waves, the results of which, in turn, allow us to determine local places of ocean pollution.
Goal. Simulate the results of calculating the MSS from the angle of incidence of the radio signal for different wave heights.
Methods. In the course of the work, the following stages were carried out: an analysis of sources from which general information about the CYGNSS system was obtained and a number of definitions were found; analyti-cal expressions for calculating MSS were analyzed and described; computer modeling using the GNU Octave software environment was carried out.
Results. The paper provides a definition and an analytical expression for calculating MSS. The conducted mod-eling and calculation can be considered fully satisfying the purpose of the article, except for comparing the data obtained with data from other sources, since the literature lacks the necessary data to confirm the correctness of the results obtained.
Conclusions. The developed software is fully consistent with the task and can be used for preliminary analysis of ocean waves.
