Study of the geometrical characteristics of the photo-conductive dipole antennas based on SI-GaAs<Cr> on terahertz generation

Abstract:
In the present work the designed photoconductive dipole antennas based on SI-GaAs are described. The influence of geometri- cal shape and antenna length on spectral and amplitude characteristics of the terahertz radiation emitted by the antennas at their ex- citation by femtosecond laser pulses is studied. Three types of antenna design were tested, namely butterfly, bow-tie and stripline. It was found that the stripline antenna with length of 150 µm is the most efficient emitter. It can generate in the frequency range of 0,05-1,5 THz.
