The demands for accuracy and speed in localizing broadband acoustic sources are continuously increasing. This problem necessitates the search for and testing of methods alternative to the traditional ones. Interferometric methods in various branches of physics have repeatedly improved measurement accuracy and yielded results unattainable by other techniques. However, in hydroacoustic, this approach has been adopted later than in other fields of physics and remains insufficiently studied. To analyze the possibility of applying the interferometric method for determining the direction (bearing) to a broadband acoustic source in the case of a shallow sea. Significant publications on the topic of bearing determination for a moving broadband source using the interferometric approach have been reviewed. The effectiveness of the approach has been assessed by numerical experiments based on the modal method for a wide range of receiver parameters (frequencies and observation times) and source parameters (distances and velocity values), taking into account the interference environment. The high efficiency of the interferometric approach for determining the direction to a moving broadband acoustic source in the case of a shallow sea has been demonstrated. The practical application of the considered method will allow obtaining the required values with high accuracy and speed even under adverse interference conditions.
