Abstract:

The widespread prevalence of cardiovascular diseases leads to disability of the working-age population and an increase in mortality, which, in turn, puts in the first place the development of new principles for the treatment and prevention of obesity in adolescence. Among the various forms of obesity, the exogenous – constitutional form, found mainly among girls, occupies the leading position. Disorders of lipid metabolism, activation of oxidative stress reactions, and a decrease in the capacity of the body's antioxidant system often accompany this form of obesity. Despite ongoing research, the characteristics of oxidative stress reactions are not well understood in obese adolescents in terms of differences in their ethnicity. It is important to identify the most informative indicators describing the maximum possible differences between groups of adolescents, taking into account the ethnic factor and allowing a targeted effect on metabolic parameters. The aim of the study was to identify the most informative metabolic markers in girls, Caucasians and Mongoloids, with exogenous constitutional obesity. A total of 39 Caucasian girls and 26 adolescent Mongoloid girls with grade 1 exogenous constitutional obesity were examined. As a comparison, we used data from practically healthy adolescent girls of the same age and ethnicity (control groups): 26 Caucasian girls and 59 Mongoloid girls. Spectrophotometric, fluorometric and statistical research methods were used. At the first stage, a comparative analysis of the parameters of lipid metabolism and the lipid peroxidation-antioxidant defense system in obese Mongoloid and Caucasian girls in relation to controls was carried out. At the second stage, discriminant analysis to identify the most informative metabolic parameters in the study groups was carried out. The results of this type of analysis indicated the identification of the most informative metabolic parameters in Caucasian girls – glutathione-Stransferase, retinol, diene conjugates, triacylglycerol’s, compounds with unsaturated double bonds; in Mongoloid girls – glutathioneS-transferase, very low density lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, diene conjugates, oxidized glutathione, superoxide dismutase. The identification of the most informative indicators of lipid metabolism and lipid peroxidation-antioxidant protection processes makes it possible to build a mathematical model, based on which it is possible to pathogenically substantiate the methods of homeostasis correction in adolescents with exogenous constitutional obesity, depending on the ethnic factor.
