Abstract:
The article presents the results of studying the quality of life assessment in healthy and patients with epilepsy, myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis of the teenagers.
118 teenagers aged 14 to 17 years were examined, 14 of them with epilepsy, 22 with myasthenia gravis, 24 with multiple sclerosis and 58 healthy ones.
As a result of statistical data processing, a significant decrease in the scale values of physical functioning, role emotional functioning and general health perception in patients with epilepsy, both in comparison with healthy teenagers (p <0.001) and with patients with multiple sclerosis (p <0, 05). This indicates an aggravated emotional state in patients with epilepsy, which in turn also adversely affects daily activities: it increases the expenditure of time, reduces its volume and quality.
It was found that patients with myasthenia gravis had the lowest score on the scale of mental health in comparison with healthy teenagers and patients with epilepsy (p <0.05). This indicates the presence of anxious experiences, depressive dis-orders more pronounced in patients with myasthenia gravis.
It was shown that in patients with multiple sclerosis the lowest values of the total indices were established, which combine together the scales associated with the psychological component of the quality of life in comparison with healthy teenagers (p <0.05). This indicates that the restriction of psychological activity significantly affects the reduction of the quality of life of patients with multiple sclerosis, and also negatively affects their psychoemotional state.
Thus, the obtained results indicate that the parameters of the assessment of the quality of life in patients with neurological disorders (epilepsy, myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis) are lower in all scales than in healthy teenagers. In all groups of patients, physical and social activity decreases, emotional status falls, subjective assessments of the emotional state and, in general, the general state of health decrease significantly.
