Abstract:
According to the available information, the major part of human bacterial infections is associated with a biofilm process. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the leaders in biofilm formation. Pseudomonas infection constitutes an ethiopathogenetic factor contributing to the development of various opportunistic infections (infection in burned or injured tissues) and is also related to certain chronic illnesses, such as cystic fibrosis pneumonia. Currently, some medicines are created that are capable of cutting through the biofilm and allowing other antimicrobial agents to work. However, biofilm matrix variety, various localizations of infections and bacterial resistance make it extremely difficult to completely solve the problem of biofilm infections. Therefore, better understanding of work mechanisms of biofilm destruction agents, as well as a search for new methods of biofilm destruction constitute one of the current top priorities. The present work demonstrates the results of the study of the effect of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis broth culture metabolites on the biofilm formed by Ps. aeruginosa.
