Abstract:
The effects which are showing at influence of low intensive EHF radiation on biological objects researched in recent years by biotechnology and medical professionals, is now of interest to be able to manage processes of reproduction of microorganisms, that is stimulation and inhibition of reproduction after exposure to millimeter waves. The present work covers searching frequencies for such control and investigating threshold powers for these effects. It was studied the action of EHF radiation on the survival of the representatives of prokaryotic (Escherichia coli) and eukaryotic (Candida albicans) microorganisms. To solve this problem has been collected laboratory facility, which allows to obtain uniform output EHF field with a uniform power distribution in a 7-millimeter wavelength range in the area of a Petri dish with nutrient medium. In the experiments the daily culture of microorganisms of standardized density of McFarland was using. 5 ml of the suspension introduced into the Petri dish and treated with EMP at 5 frequencies, which were randomly selected from the EHF range defined previously for the growth of some crops. Each sample was irradiated with 45 minutes strictly at the same frequency but with different power densities of UHF fields which have a chaotic polarization. Then spent plating of 100 mcl treated suspensions on solid nutrient medium and incubated in an oven at 37° C. The colonies count of Escherichia coli was performed after 24 hours of incubation, and Candida albicans - after 48 hours. Control samples, were cultured for a similar way except for the irradiation of a suspension by millimeter wavelength range electromagnetic radiation. The survival of microorganisms was determined by direct counting of the colonies, and was counted in % relative to control samples. Analysis of the results showed the presence of a strongly suppressing (up to 70% of the control group) frequency and stimulating (up to 60% of the control group). And fact that on one of frequencies effect has been received at the extremely low power levels (~10-1 mW/cm2), confirms experimentally the effect of bioinformation impact, whose mechanism of action is yet to explore in detail.
