Abstract:
The the role of 5HT4-receptors in excitatory responses of the ascending colon to exogenous serotonin was stuided in acute experiments on rats. Experiments were performed in 46 Wistar rats under general anesthesia, mechanical ventilation, bilateral vagotomy and bilateral transection of the glossopharyngeal nerve. Colonic mechanical activity was recorded during serotonin adipate infusion to intact animals and on the background of the ongoing actions of cholinergic, adrenergic antagonists and RS 39604 - the blocker 5-HT4-receptors. Simultaneous blockade of adrenergic and cholinergic receptors promote their reinforcing actions of exogenous serotonin on the motility of the ascending colon. Blockade of 5-HT4-receptors eliminated the stimulating effect of serotonin. Concluded that serotoninergic structures exerted their control influence by 5-HT4-receptors.
