Abstract:
The reliability and service life of the magnetrons in the first place depend on the effective properties of the cathodes used in these devices.
The article presents the results of practical application in pulsed magnetrons with various types of cathodes, fabricated by the powder metallurgy techniques from a mixture of powders consisting of shaping metal, in particular, iridium or palladium, and the corresponding emission-active components of the intermetallic compounds of iridium with lanthanum or palladium with barium.
The following results are obtained: 1) use in the manufacture of magnetrons 2 mm wavelength range (magnetrons of the type MI 445) modernized cathode with iridium-lanthanum emitter helped to increase the service life of the magnetron MI 445 with 450−500 hours. up to 1500 hours and more; 2) the introduction into production of the technological process of manufacturing the secondary emission pressed palladium-barium cathode ensured a stable release of over 20 types of magnetrons with instant readiness.
The article also outlined the perspectives of use magnetrons pressed Nickel-oxide cathodes and cathode nodes, in which those or other methods attempt to separate them into two functional parts, one of which is designed to initiate generation, and the second part, to maintain the generation mode.
