Negative impact on ecological conditions of airfield and surrounding area is caused by military and civil aircraft and vehicles. Monitoring of the airfield bottom atmospheric layer is carried out by instrumental method with the help of various portable gas detectors in order to take prompt measures for decreasing concentration of pollutants per person a flight staff and maintenance staff. Comparative analysis of ranges and parameters of measured compounds, exhausted in to the atmospheric air of many various gas detectors is carried out, and those ones which measure major chemical contaminants from aircraft and vehicles on state owned airfield is carried out. Practical experiment on measuring harmful toxic substances concentration in the truck Ural-4320 exhaust gases by means of selected modern gas detectors is carried out.
