Abstract:
A model of surface defect-deformation instability has shown that the flat surface strained layer which is rich in mobile point defects induced by plasma treatment undergoes the defect- concentration threshold transition into a periodic space-bending state with simultaneous space-periodic defects precipitation at the extreme points of spontaneous surface geometry. Consideration of non-local properties in defect interaction with lattice atoms with simultaneous consideration of both (normal and lateral) defect-induced forces which bend the surface layer results in two maxima in the instability increment dependence on a period of observed surface geometry. Results are confirmed by experimental data
