Abstract:

Modern telecommunication systems impose increasingly high requirements on antenna devices: it is necessary to provide high data transfer rate, wide scanning sector, compactness and adaptability to changing conditions. Reconfigurable antenna arrays with wide-angle mechatronic scanning are one of the most promising solutions, combining the advantages of mechanical and electronic control of the radiation pattern. The article discusses the current state of technology for creating such antennas, analyzes the main achievements and identifies promising directions of development. It has been shown that reconfigurable antenna arrays with wide-angle mechatronic scanning are a dynamically developing technology that is already finding applications in various fields: from satellite communication to military radars. The combination of mechanical and electronic control allows for the achievement of unique characteristics that are not possible with purely electronic or mechanical systems. Despite its current limitations, progress in materials, designs, and control algorithms opens up broad prospects for the development of reconfigurable antenna arrays. Therefore, in the coming years, we can expect: the emergence of more compact and light-weight technical solutions for mobile devices, the integration of reconfigurable antenna arrays with artificial intelligence systems for their autonomous adaptation, and finally, the expansion of applications in 5G/6G networks, satellite communication, and the IoT. The further development of this technology will contribute to the creation of more reliable, fast, and energy-efficient telecommunication systems that can meet the growing needs of modern society.
