Abstract:

Formulation of the problem. In the process of designing AC-DC converters, the designer has to solve the problem of product compliance with standards of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in terms of the level of emission of conductive interference. One of the solutions to reduce the time required to solve this problem is to simulate the converter's power stage in LTspice using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Inductive filter components are added to the model, which contain parasitic parameters that affect the suppression of conductive interference. The most common inductive filtering component is a common-mode choke. Extraction of its parasitic parameters and their addition to the model is a prerequisite for constructing a model of the converter's power stage.

Purpose. Creation of an equivalent circuit design of a common-mode choke in LTspice in order to solve the problems of providing EMC for AC-DC converters.

Results. An experimental measurement of the parameters of a common-mode choke has been carried out. An approach to obtaining parasitic parameters based on the frequency response of insertion loss is considered. A common-mode choke circuit model with frequency characteristics close to the real product has been synthesized in the LTspice environment.

Practical significance. The proposed method for synthesizing a common-mode choke circuit model and the resulting model make it possible to simulate the AC-DC converter power stage to ensure the required level of conductive interference to comply with EMC standards.
