Abstract:

Problem. The usage of multi-antenna technologies makes it possible to significantly improve the characteristics of modern communication systems by making more complete use of the spatial and temporal resource of a multipath communication channel. Various methods of space-time coding are used, which require an assessment of the channel coefficients of signal transmission between pairs of transmitting and receiving antennas. Evaluation by emitting pilot signals in feedback MIMO systems requires considerable time, which complicates its application in channels with rapidly changing parameters. The well-known method of differential space-time coding allows to reduce the time delay, however, it has a greater error in restoring the original signal. Signal transmission in inhomogeneous continuums is characterized by a significant dependence of the channel coefficients on the trajectory of signal propagation, its reflection and refraction at the boundaries of the medium layers. The task is to evaluate the effectiveness of the organization of multichannel information transmission in a inhomogeneous continuums with various methods of estimating channel coefficients.

The purpose of the work. The article is devoted to evaluating the effectiveness of algorithms for estimating channel coefficients in a multichannel MIMO communication system. The problem of estimating channel coefficients under the influence of errors of various origins is considered. The purpose of the work is to compare the characteristics of various methods for estimating channel coefficients and to develop recommendations for their use in various communication systems.

Results. The dependences of the bit error ratio on the energy potential of the communication system for various space-time coding algorithms are obtained. A study of the effectiveness of estimating the matrix of channel coefficients in the presence of errors in comparison with the relative coding method in the development of a communication system in heterogeneous continuous environments has been performed.

Practical significance and scope of application The results obtained are applicable in the design of multi-antenna energy-efficient communication systems in inhomogeneous continuums, including for communication with unmanned vehicles.
