This study examines known methods of sealing receiving and transmitting modules (TRM). A qualitative and quantitative analysis of the effect of known methods of sealing enclosures on the weight and size characteristics of TRM has been carried out. The analyses were carried out taking into account three macroparameters: service life, maintainability and weight and size characteristics of the TRM.
Based on the results of the analyses carried out, a methodology has been developed and proposed for selecting the method of sealing TRM based on the specified requirements for service life and maintainability requirements, which allows choosing the method of sealing the housing during the design of the TRM structure that provides the lowest weight and dimensional characteristics at specified values for service life and maintainability requirements.
The proposed method for selecting the method of sealing TRM is based on a preliminary selection of the method of sealing based on the requirements for service life and further final selection of the method of sealing TRM based on the requirements for maintainability. The choice of the preliminary and final sealing method in the proposed methodology is based on the use of the tables given in the article.
The result of this study is the proposed method for selecting the type of sealing of TRM, which can be used as a universal technique for determining the sealing method in the development of designs of on-board sealed TRM.
