In engineering practice except calculations of strength and stiffness antenna structures often appears the task of ensuring stability under the acting various external loads which is especially corresponds to extended devices that the effect of geometric nonlinearity can manifest itself. The main problem is that stability analysis can be performed only in a linear formulation with a number of conditions in calculation engineering programs: using linear material, small translations and constant direction of the acting load. If at least one of them is not fulfilled than the calculation results cannot be considered reliable, and therefore in order to correctly evaluate the stability antenna structures it is proposed to conduct a nonlinear deformations analysis with the structure balanced stated diagrams which can show a real behavior of the structure elements.
In the Simcenter Femap software package considered a methodology modeling the linear and nonlinear behavior of antenna devices during the buckling deformation analysis. Shown the diagrams of the balanced states calculation finite element model extended antenna device with the obtained values of stresses and displacements depending on the magnitude acting static load, and determined the critical forces at which antenna system loses stability in the linear and nonlinear formulation of the problem solution.
The presented methodology makes it possible to evaluate the stability of an extended antenna structure with higher accuracy and nonlinear behavior under static loads to obtain reliable results on the real strength and stiffness of structural elements.
The calculated critical loads will make it possible to identify both possible reserves of bearing capacity reducing the consumption of materials and productions costs, and the need to improve the strength characteristics of the antenna structure to increase resistance to external influencing factors.
