Abstract:

Problem statement. Currently, in order to reduce the cost of creating ground-based aviation surveillance systems, as well as ensuring the functioning of on-board collision warning systems (TCAS), a broadcast-type automatic dependent surveillance system (ADS-B) is widely used in civil aviation. In accordance with the decision of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ADS-B technology based on the 1090ES data link was adopted as the main one. However, the specified ADS-B has such a significant drawback as the lack of explicit mechanisms to protect the confidentiality of data transmitted by aircraft, which makes the 1090ES technology vulnerable to data falsification attempts (spoofing). For this reason, the task of verifying ADS-B data is relevant in practice. The essence of verification is, as a rule, in comparing the aircraft location data received from the ADS-B system with similar data from alternative technologies and sensors of aviation surveillance.

Goal. Ensuring the verification of ADS-B data on the coordinates of the aircraft based on the analysis of their belonging to a given spatial area.

Results. The necessity of verifying the data of the broadcast-type automatic dependent surveillance system (ADS-B) due to their low protection from imitation (spoofing) is shown. It is proposed to perform a rough verification of ADS-B data on the spatial position of the aircraft based on determining their belonging to a certain spatial area limited both by the range to the aircraft and by the angular sector formed by a weakly directional sector antenna array. For a rough estimate of the range to a mobile radio source, a singleposition method has been developed based on measurements of at least two power values and the Doppler frequency shift of the signal received from the aircraft. Expressions for estimating the accuracy of the range measurement are obtained. The results of mathematical modeling are presented.

Practical significance. The application of the proposed method will solve the problem of verifying ADS-D data in the absence of other trajectory information sensors in a given observation area: primary and secondary radars, multilateration surveillance systems.
