Abstract:

Simultaneous estimation method of the signal frequency and its rate of change by differential-phasic measurements is proposed. A computationally efficient method for estimating the parameters of complex sinusoidal signals with a linear frequency change based on the optimal weighting of the differential-phasic statistics is synthesized. The proposed estimates are calculated as linear functions of differential-phasic measurements, and they are linear unbiased estimates with minimum variance, within the framework of the accepted assumptions. The algorithm performing the proposed estimate is computational efficient and is implemented with the amount of computation in direct proportion to the sample size of the input signal.

An explicit expression for the lower bound of the variance of the estimate under consideration is obtained, and a comparative study of the accuracy characteristics of the proposed estimation method with potentially achievable characteristics is carried out by modeling methods. The efficiency of the method was confirmed at a moderately high signal-to-noise ratio, and from 12 dB, an almost complete coincidence of the root mean square of the estimate with its lower limit was demonstrated.
