Abstract:

Refining method of the frequency estimate when processing of coherent packets of sinusoidal signals is proposed. A computationally efficient method of estimating the frequency for sequential coherent packets of complex sinusoidal signals based on the optimal weighting of the differential-phasic statistics is synthesized. The proposed estimate is calculated as a linear function of differentialphasic measurements and it is a linear unbiased estimate with minimum variance within the framework of the accepted assumptions. The algorithm, realizing the proposed estimate, is implemented with the amount of computation in direct proportion to the sample size of the input signal.

An explicit expression for the lower bound of the variance of the estimate under consideration is obtained, and a comparative study of the accuracy characteristics of the proposed estimation method with potentially achievable characteristics is carried out by modeling methods. The efficiency of the method was confirmed at a moderately high signal-to-noise ratio, and from 12 dB, an almost complete coincidence of the root mean square of the estimate with its lower limit was demonstrated.
