The review article presents the most common «smart home» systems and corresponding control methods over a set of peripheral devices. In order to control the components of the system, various communication protocols are used, which determine the methods of connection and data exchange. The article describes the features of connecting devices of leading systems, the advantages and disadvantages of various types of communication and identifies the most promising projects for creating and improving smart home systems.
Today there are many types of communication that have advantages and disadvantages, but none of the networks can fully meet the requirements of consumers. Devices of the «smart home» system are represented by a multitude of companies, but the problem of the lack of a unified infrastructure and platform for managing a set of «smart» devices remains unresolved. Devices work on certain protocols that can only communicate through auxiliary devices, and many companies are manufacturing chips with support for various communication protocols with their own optimizations, which significantly increases the risk of component incompatibility. These problems remain relevant now, in this regard, the study of ways to connect and exchange data is a necessary step in the development of a single technology, its standardization and modification.
This article presents the features of connecting devices of leading companies, the problems of their interaction with each other, the advantages and disadvantages of various types of communication. These control schemes form an idea of how the components of the systems interact with each other. Analysis of the most promising projects of well-known companies from the point of view of interaction with peripheral devices makes it possible to evaluate the achievements in the field of smart devices and to identify problems that hinder the wide spread of new technologies.
