The article deals with the most urgent, topical, system-wide and technological issues in the development of new generation airborne radars based on the particulars and conditions of their functioning as a part of integrated airborne system during modern noncontact network-centric wars. It focuses on these systems sophistication indexes.
The article describes the important issues related to the development of airborne radar systems of new generation. It focuses on the fact that due to the change of opinions on the current warfighting characters, high-intelligent technical means and systems became of significant importance including robotized systems in global network exchange of information received from different physical nature sources available on ground, in air, in outer space and on sea. These circumstances have definitely an effect on technical specifications imposed on new generation radars including airborne radars. The state-of-the-art airborne electronic system (ES) along with radar includes other information and control systems that operate in strong interrelation, what makes us to consider its performance basing on the efficient operation of the whole electronic system.
In the development of these radars, new tasks that are assigned to advanced airborne radars require to take into account the late changes in radiolocation theory, radar construction principles, in signal processing issues and information technologies, in development of electronic component base technologies, microwave technology and antenna equipment.
In this connection, the article highlights the fundamental, system-wide and technological development aspects of new generation airborne radars based on particulars and conditions of their functioning as a part of integrated airborne system during modern noncontact network-centric wars. It describes the system indexes of radar data sophistication that makes it possible to evaluate the efficiency of their functioning in the structure of integrated airborne electronic system.
