Abstract:

This article presents the results of studies of the possibility of increasing the bandwidth in MIMO systems by using microstrip antennas with substrates of biisotropic and bianisotropic chiral metamaterials. It is shown that the use of such substrates can reduce the mutual influence between the emitters. The estimation of the gain in the capacity of the system compared to traditional solutions. Due to the increasing requirements for the quality of service of modern radio networks, allowing for high-speed transmission of multimedia information in real time, there is a comprehensive approach to the further development of these networks. This approach involves the modernization of not only software but also hardware components of the mobile radio network.

One example of the implementation of the above approach is MIMO technology. In order to increase the capacity of mobile networks, it is proposed to use chiral metamaterials in antennas of devices and systems of radio networks. Several variants of implementation of MIMO systems based on microstrip antennas with substrates of biisotropic and bianisotropic chiral metamaterials based on left - and right-screw spirals were considered.

Studies have shown that the capacity of mobile radio networks using MIMO technology, and which use antennas based on chiral metamaterials, is generally higher than using traditional antenna solutions (microstrip antennas with dielectric substrates).
