Abstract:

The article analyzes the existing methods of evaluating the effectiveness of surveillance equipment by the example of radar stations in order to ensure continuous monitoring of marine areas.

The system of monitoring the situation at sea is based on the use of radar stations (radars) of millimeter and centimeter ranges. Which are the main source of information for the coastal surveillance system. The main indicator of the coastal surveillance system is its effectiveness. In the course of the assessment of the existing or developed surveillance system, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of placement, tactical and technical characteristics of surveillance tools and the influence of external factors on their work. The analysis of methods for evaluating the effectiveness of observation systems allows us to distinguish two main approaches: probabilistic-statistical and analytical. The probabilistic-statistical approach requires a large number of statistical data, taking into account the different conditions of observation, which is unprofitable from an economic point of view. The application of the analytical approach allows without unnecessary costs, using the existing dependencies to determine such an indicator of the effectiveness of the radar as the detection range.

In order to solve the problem you need to consider the process of propagation of the radar signal with the influence of the underlying surface Hydrometeorology and multipath propagation. In the literature there is a lot of information about the peculiarities of the radar distribution, and the information that would allow to take into account this information when assessing the effectiveness of radar facilities is practically absent. From this point of view, the work is of particular interest and relevant.
