Abstract:

The results of model research of bit error ratio in the data line with small scale Rayleigh's fading for various values signal to noise ratio (SNR) and adjusted maximum excess delay of the signal are presented in the work. The virtual installation is realized in MATLAB. This installation allows to estimate a bit error ratio in the data line under multipath conditions.

The continuous development of new methods of digital modulation and hardware methods of signal processing  and combating with small-scale Rayleigh fading in the channels of  information transmission  in cellular mobile communication systems, dictates the need for preliminary modeling studies at the design stage instead of conducting an expensive full-scale experiment.

The virtual laboratory setup for estimating the bit error rate in a system of transmitting discrete information ,which is  based on MSK modulation in conditions of multipath propagation which is created in  the Matlab + Simulink environment, is  presented in this paper. The laboratory setup is  included of:  the standard MSK modulator block, the realized block of noise immunity demodulator of  MSK signal  , as well as an additive white Gaussian noise generation block with an adjustable signal-to-noise ratio and a block for measuring of bit error rate and restoring the received pulse sequence , which were designed by the authors.

The series of model studies of the bit error rate in the communication channel with small-scale Rayleigh fading on the signal-to-noise ratio in the communication channel for various values of the excess latency of the received signal were carried out on this basis of the laboratory setup. Quantitative analysis of these results allowed  to establish a significant correlation between the excess signal latency and bit error rate in the low signal-to-noise ratio and  practically complete absence its at values above 5 dB.

The results of model studies have shown that the unique algorithm , which was  developed by the authors for estimating the bit error rate and the virtual laboratory setup, which was based on it, allow to predict the quality of functioning of the digital information transmission channel in cellular networks of mobile communication systems in conditions of small-scale Rayleigh fading.
