A new method for studying the algorithms of operation of charge pump DC–DC converters is presented. Using this method, combined detailed investigations of voltage waveforms for positive and negative poles of the flying capacitor at DC signal coupling oscilloscope and ripples of output voltage at AC signal coupling of the buck/boost MCP1253 converter were carried out for the first time. The measurements covered a wide range of values of input and output voltages and load current when the integrated circuit operated in the boost mode. Based on the analysis of the obtained results, the algorithm of operation of MCP 1253 in the boost mode is obtained.
