Abstract:

Effect of short-pulsed electromagnetic radiation in mm range on gas discharge current has been investigated. 3 and 2 mm waves with the pulse width of 200 nm have been generated by a magnetron source. It was shown that the sensitivity of a gas discharge detector is enough for detecting objects several meters away from the detector. A design of an active matrix gas discharge detector for imaging of hidden objects is proposed. It is shown that the advantages of the proposed detector are low cost, big sizes, EMI.
