Abstract:

The article presents studies of statistical characteristics of various forms of optimal Faster-Than-Nyquist signals for symbol rates exceeding the Nyquist limit. Analysis of the distribution of amplitudes of random sequences of such signals with different signal constellation size was performed. An estimate of the PAPR of random sequences of optimal FTN-signals has been made. The obtained results are used to further select the mode of limiting the amplitude of the transmitted signal in order to reduce its PAPR and increase the energy efficiency. In addition, the BER curves for optimal FTN-signals with the considered symbol rates are given.
