Abstract:

In this paper, we propose a new way to synthesis bandwidth-efficient signals. The idea is to use the spectrum mask as the constraint for optimization problem instead of using bandwidth calculation. As the optimization criterion, we use the maximization of the free Euclidean distance, which provides asymptotically the smallest energy consumption. The optimization problem is solved for multicomponent signals, which are the kind of partial response signals but with finite pulses. Spectrum mask templates are taken from DVB-S2 standard. With QPSK signal constellation, our proposed signals provide from 23% to 61% gain in data rate without additional energy losses comparing to DVB-S2 signals.
