Abstract:

Results of experimental studies of TWT in the amplification mode of two closely spaced signals are presented. To reduce the nonlinear distortion of the signals in the TWT, a third additional signal from the external signal source was fed to the RF input. Such a method of reducing the nonlinear distortion allows one to control quickly and easily the parameters of the additional signal to optimize the TWT parameters at one or several signals at its RF input. At the multimode operation of a TWT, it may prove to be the most effective. It is shown on the base of the obtained results that this method of reducing the level of the third order intermodulation distortions and cross-amplitude-phase modulation of signals in the operating band of the communication channel is promising.
