Abstract:
Intermodulation dynamic range is an important parameter of a receiving device (RD), describing its ability to function without introducing of intermodulation distortion. The dynamic range estimates generally by the intermodulation interception point of the third order. This suggests that the receiver will be affected by two harmonic signals. However, in practice a set of influencing RD signals is much richer, and so the real dynamic range is less than the value corresponding to two-component signal. The article analyzes the differences in the intensity of the intermodulation products for two-component and multicomponent input signals, demonstrates the appearance of intermodulation component with raised power in the case of complex signals and on this basis offers a refined formula for dynamic range evaluation on the basis of the parameter IP3.
