Abstract:
Methods and results of designing two types of phase-stable traveling wave tubes (TWT) possessing of low phase sensitivity to a change of electron beam voltage are described. They differ one from another by the interaction space design. One of them contains a crestatron section in the input, which realizes as small values of a pitch of slow-wave structure and high values of the parameter of non-synchronism. Another contains the section of the input signal suppression. This section realizes high values of a pitch of slow-wave structure and negative values of the parameter of non-synchronism. In the paper, energetic and phase characteristics of these two types of TWT are compared, and the ad-vantages and disadvantages of each of the variants are emphasized.
